Harpdog Brown
Irene’s Pub, 885 Bank Street
Friday, October 18 @ 9:30 pm; $20 at the door

Harpdog Brown has grown a reputation as a real-deal purveyor of classic electric blues. Think of the old Chess Records and Sun Records of the late ‘40s and early ‘50s. These days he’s been touring more and more as Harpdog Brown & the Uptown Blues Band - a vintage New Orleans Blues sound featuring, piano, clarinet/sax, upright-bass and drums. Still a vintage vibe, just a different vintage! This music will move you! They perform mostly originals, yet they often include great songs of the masters from that era. Think Louis Jordan, Satchmo, Sonny Boy Williamson, Wynonie Harris, even Duke Ellington. Audiences are raving about this new show!

He’s been called a Blues Evangelist, and that’s a very fitting moniker. "I speak the blues like it's the truth, and it is”, he was recently quoted. "I do feel like I'm a servant of the people. A missionary if you will. Music can heal people if they pay attention to the messages in these songs.” He delivers those messages using the vintage sound whether it be with his lowdown classic blues band the Travelin’ Blues Show or with his new Uptown Blues Band. Harpdog says "Blues has a healing power. It's a beautiful celebration of our perfectly flawed lives. We help people forget about their issues of the moment and then they might just realize that we all have our issues, and that's OK."

Harpdog Brown is a gifted vocalist and an imaginative harmonica player. Piano man Dave Webb has been working with Harpdog over the years and they share an intuition that only comes with many hours and miles shared on and off stage. Billy Joe Abbott learned his craft first-hand from some of the greatest Clarinetists in New Orleans. Riley Bartlett is the newest and youngest member on Trumpet from Winnipeg and he's awesome! Drummer extraordinaire Rick Jacobson will be laying down the groove.

Harpdog has won three consecutive Maple Blues Awards for Harmonica Player of the Year (2014/2015/2016), the Fraser Valley Music Award, has three consecutive Western Canadian Music Awards Nominations, a Juno Nomination and is the only Canadian to win the coveted Muddy Award. In 2016, he was nominated for 3 Maple Blues Awards (Harmonica Player, Male Vocalist and Album of the Year) for his latest release “Travelin’ With The Blues”.
“Travelin' With The Blues”, released in 2016, is still sitting in the top roots and blues charts and follows his Top 20 charting 2014 release “What It Is” (Roots Music Report International Blues Albums).

Get off the couch and some see some seriously vintage blues that’s lots of fun!

(A second show has been added on Friday, December 13; see below.)

Each unique show features an endless series of classic hits spanning decades of music. Playing a blend of requests from the audience, blistering guitar and piano solos, three-part harmonies, and random impromptu comedic moments, their show has won over the crowds for which they perform time after time.

Dave has been entertaining audiences across Canada since 1976 as a solo piano player and singer, but has had the most fun this past decade playing with – or against – singer-songwriter and fellow pianist Tyler. Maurice John Vaughn Chicago Blues Night
Signal Brewing Company, 86 River Road, Corbyville ON
Friday, October 18; 9 pm – midnight; $15

Signal Presents Chicago Blues & Funk Legends Maurice John Vaughn with special guests Shirley Johnson The Queen Blues & Deacon Freddie Dixon of the Chicago Blues All Stars

Maurice John Vaughn began playing professionally in 1968 as a saxophonist in Chicago R&B groups. He recorded with The Chosen Few in 1976, and played and recorded with Phil Guy, went on tour in Canada in 1979. He played as a sideman with Luther Allison, Son Seals, Junior Wells, Valerie Wellington, and A.C. Reed.

His debut solo record was 1984's “Generic Blues Album”, released in plain white packaging on his own Reecy Records record label; Alligator Records reissued it in 1987. In the 1990s, Vaughn played with Detroit Junior, but spent much of his time working in A&R for Appaloosa Records, and produced albums by Shirley Johnson, Zoom, Maxine Carr, B.J. Emery, and Velvet McNair. Vaughn and his band backed up Detroit Junior on the latter's two releases on Blue Suit Records, "Turn Up The Heat" and "Take Out The Time."

In 1994, his song "(Everything I Do) Got To Be Funky" was released on the soundtrack for the film Major League II. The song was also a part of his 1993 release, “In the Shadow of the City”.

Shirley Johnson, whose influences range from Mahalia Jackson to Koko Taylor, Etta James, and Ruth Brown, is a gritty, big-voiced blues singer who can also handle soul and gospel. Johnson came from a very religious family and she was only six when she started singing gospel in a church choir. Johnson managed to hear the blues as a little girl and fell in love with secular black music; despite her parents' disdain for the blues and R&B, she developed a healthy appreciation of Brown, James, and Taylor, as well as male bluesmen like B.B. King, Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland, Little Milton, and the late Z.Z. Hill. None of those artists have been blues purists and James, in fact, is primarily a soul singer who often detours into the blues and listening to them obviously taught her that the blues and classic soul often go hand in hand.

In the early 2000s, she signed with the Chicago-based Delmark, which released “Killer Diller” in May 2002, following it up with “Blues Attack” in 2009.

Deacon Freddie Dixon is a member of the Chicago Blues All Stars....Freddie's dad is none other than the legendary Willie Dixon., and like his father Freddie is a bass player...not just any bass player though, he is a boss bass player.

Well-priced accommodation available at The Cove, nearby B&Bs and motel
Westport is a beautiful historic town on the Rideau Waterway - a 90-minute drive from Ottawa, 45 minutes from Kingston.

This year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary season - making BOTR one of the longest running and best Blues Series in the country. We've put together another fabulous Line-Up of some of Canada's best Blues artists - nominees and winners of Juno Awards, Maple Blues Awards, American Blues Music Award, Western Canadian Music Award and more - bringing back some of the all time favourites who have played the Series over the years plus a few great new ones.

Visit www.BluesOnTheRideau.ca for more more details including artists' Bios, LINKS to their websites and You Tubes.

Then check your calendars, make your choices and RESERVE NOW to be sure you don't miss out on the shows. This is particularly true if you want to STAY OVERNIGHT. All the rooms at The Cove; nearby B&Bs and the Westport Station Motel usually sell out in advance on BOTR nights.

You will note that there has been a
SMALL INCREASE in the ticket price this year - from $65 pp to $70 pp (plus HST). This is the first price increase in 5 years and is necessary to cover the increased costs of just about everything - food, drink, staff, band and Sound Engineer fees, advertising, printing costs and more.

However, when you consider the quality of the meal, the venue, the ambiance and the incredible LIVE music on these nights and compare it to just about anything else this is still one of - if not THE - best entertainment value in eastern Ontario - make that the country!

Also note that there are
3 TWO NIGHT STAND shows this season - October, November and January - giving those who have difficulty in making the Friday night shows more chances to come out on Saturday nights!

And we've
added a show in DECEMBER this year - December 13 with multiple Juno Award winners MONKEYJUNK. If you want a great place to have your Christmas Party this would be it! Book early!

Shawn Holt & the Teardrops
St. Francis Centre, 78 Church Street, South Ajax ON
Friday, October 25 @ 8 pm; advance tickets $45 + HST + fees

Shawn Holt is the son of blues legend Magic Slim. The high energy hard-driving sound of The Teardrops is still alive and well with Holt, a chip off the old block, fronting his dad’s band. Shawn’s booming vocals is more than a little reminiscent of his dad’s, and his guitar playing while similar to Slim’s, exhibits a broader mix of classic and contemporary influences. Shawn shows himself more than capable of leading The Teardrops into a new era. The blues torch has been passed to another generation of the blues.

Shawn started playing the blues at the age of 17, when he went on the road with this father and Slim’s brother, uncle Nick Holt, and The Teardrops. Shortly after that tour with his father, Shawn realized his genetic destiny (all the Holt’s are talented musicians) and formed his own band. He has been watching, learning, and playing blues ever since.

Shawn Holt and The Teardrops are winners for Best New Artist Debut – Daddy Told Me by the Blues Foundation (BMA) 2014, and also won the 2014 Blues Blast Music Award for New Artist Debut Album – “Daddy Told Me”.

Coco Montoya
16 Main Street S., Uxbridge ON
Thursday, October 31 @ 8 pm; advance tickets $50 + HST + fees

The old Willie Dixon adage, “blues is truth,” perfectly describes the searing, contemporary blues-rock of world-renowned guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya. Taught by the “Master of the Telecaster,” Albert Collins, but with a hard-edged sound and style all his own, Montoya mixes his forceful, melodic guitar playing and passionate vocals with memorable songs, delivering the blues’ hardest truths.

He earned his status as a master guitarist and soul-powered vocalist through years of paying his dues as a sideman with Collins (first as a drummer) and then with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, before launching his solo career in 1993. Five years of constant touring with Collins and ten years with Mayall turned him into a monster player and dynamic performer. Montoya has released eight solo albums—including three for Alligator between 2000 and 2007—and has played at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all over the world.

Music By The Bay Live presents
John Rowlands – Stories Behind The Lens
St. Francis Centre, 78 Church Street, South Ajax ON
Saturday, November 2 @ 8 pm; advance tickets $40 + HST + fees

John Rowlands, affectionately known as Rock 'n Rowlands has spent time with thousands of music artists. His inside stories are something you don't want to miss; they're great, funny, sometimes sad, but certainly inspirational.

John R. Rowlands has been photographing music and movie celebrities since 1960. His first paid job was with Brenda Lee and after looking at his prints her management sent him his first check for $35. The Brenda Lee work led to shoots with Sam Cooke, Bobby Vee, Duane Eddy and then the British Invasion with acts like Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Dave Clark Five, The Rolling Stones and in 1965 and 1966, The Beatles.

His 58 years in the business has taken him around the world, accomplished 110 Album/CD covers and allowed him to work with almost everyone of note in pop/rock music through five decades. Worldwide magazines and trade papers have featured his work from London to Hong Kong, and from highway billboards to point of sale posters, his work has stayed in the public eye to this day.

J. R. Rowlands has always been an industry photographer working behind the scenes for every major record company in the world, leading magazines, radio and television networks and other associated clients. As such he now has a body of work from those shots he still owns and controls that in most cases have never-before been seen by the public. Some of the artists he has worked with over the years include: David Bowie, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Dick Van Dyke, 4 tours with the Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton, KISS, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Police, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Blondie, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, Ike and Tina Turner, The Who, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice Cooper, B.B. King, Sly and the Family Stone, Billy Joel, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Lucinda Williams, Emylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Donna Summers, Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, Natalie Cole, Carlos Santana, Steve Tyrell, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Barry Manilow, The Beach Boys, Journey, Cat Stevens, Dr. John, Leonard Cohen, Prince and many more.

Music By The Bay Live presents
Chicago Plays The Stones
16 Main Street S., Uxbridge ON
Friday, November 29 @ 8 pm; advance tickets $70 + HST + fees

Chicago guitar-slinger and vocalist, Ronnie Baker Brooks and Chicago harmonica master and vocalist Billy Branch, among today’s foremost inheritors of the Chicago blues tradition and keepers of the flame, unite live on-stage to give the songs of the Rolling Stones a remarkable rebirth. Brooks and Branch strip those rock songs down to their Chicago blues essence and bring the songs of Jagger-Richards back to their spiritual home and their point of origin.

There is no more seminal association in the history of rock and pop music than those ties that bind Chicago’s electric blues with the Rolling Stones. They modeled their sound on the gritty, urban electrified and amplified music of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Little Walter and other Chicago blues pioneers. Through the lens of this musical kinship that has changed modern popular music and culture across the globe, CHICAGO PLAYS THE STONES takes audiences on a powerful musical journey that will delight and thrill lovers of the blues, fans of The Rolling Stones, and general music audiences alike.

The Concert: CHICAGO PLAYS THE STONES is an exhilarating, high-energy live stage performance that presents its audience with classic Rolling Stones songs arranged in the Chicago blues styles ranging from the early-traditional to modern- contemporary.
Performances also include songs from the 1940s Mississippi Delta by a young Muddy Waters up through the ground-breaking electrification of the country blues in Chicago by Waters and other pioneering Windy City blues artists. These blues sounds that traveled from the deep south up north to Chicago were the musical DNA that put the young Brits squarely on the path to become The Rolling Stones, the group that would eventually, with the Chicago blues at it core, have a lasting effect on rock and pop music.

Imagine the classic Rolling Stones songs as played by their Chicago blues heroes of the Golden Age such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon or Sonny Boy Williamson. What would those songs sound like? Would they sound retro? Contemporary? Or, something new?

We invite you to a unique concert event featuring today’s greatest Chicago blues artists to discover the answer to those questions. We invite you to travel back to the future to experience CHICAGO PLAYS THE STONES.

Music By The Bay Live presents
The Last Waltz – A Musical Celebration of the Band
16 Main Street S., Uxbridge ON
Saturday, November 30 @ 8 pm; advance tickets $65 + HST + fees

By popular demand, one of Ontario’s most talked about acts returns to Music by the Bay Live. This all-star Canadian cast of award-winning blues and roots musicians, under the direction of Juno award winning producer and musical director, Lance Anderson, will be playing The Uxbridge Music Hall on November 30, celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of THE BAND’s last concert in 1976 and The BAND’s amazing contribution to our shared Canadian musical heritage.

This is an all-star line-up, featuring Jerome Levon Avis (Levon Helm’s godson), on drums and vocals with special guests and a nine-piece band led by Maple Blues 2014 ‘Keyboardist of the Year’ Lance Anderson. The performance will recreate the atmosphere of The Band’s final concert, which was captured in Martin Scorcese’s award-winning concert film, The Last Waltz.

On the American Thanksgiving of 1976 at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom, The BAND performed what they called their “Last Waltz,” and invited many of their friends to join in the celebration. These friends included Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison, and Canadians Neil Young and Joni Mitchell and others who performed with The Band on this special night.

In this homage to The Last Waltz, Anderson’s special guests will perform the songs played and sung by these guest artists at the memorable 1976 concert.  Backed by a 9-piece band that includes Jerome Levon Avis, Terry Blersh on guitar, Dennis Pinhorn (The Hawks) on bass, Rob Gusevs (Blood, Sweat and Tears) on organ and Anderson (Joint Chiefs of Soul) on piano and vocals, this is a group of seasoned veterans who love the music. Anderson’s band also features a stellar four-piece horn section including David Dunlop (Boss Brass) on trumpet, Gord Meyers (Blood, Sweat and Tears) on trombone and tuba, Chris Murphy (The Maple Blues Band) on tenor sax and Simon Wallis (Lighthouse) on baritone sax. An all-star band!

The Band is a Canadian national treasure, with four members of the legendary roots music group originally from southern Ontario. In the 1960s, they were initially brought together as “The Hawks” by Ronnie Hawkins and later gained international recognition as Bob Dylan’s band on his ground-breaking electric tours. This 120 minute performance of The Last Waltz includes a wide selection of fan favourites, such as The Band’s ‘The Weight’, ’The Night They Drove Ol’ Dixie Down’, ‘Up On Cripple Creek’, ‘Life is a Carnival’, ‘The Shape I’m In’, ‘Rag Mama Rag’, ‘It Makes No Difference’, ‘Ophelia’ and many more.
Please note, artists performing subject to change.

Rob Lutes
          With Mike McKenna Jr.
NAC 4th Stage, 1 Elgin Street
Thursday, October 24 @ 8:30 pm; tickets $20

Since the release of his first album “Gravity” in 2000, Rob Lutes has steadily built a collection of exquisite songs that inhabit the intersection of blues, folk, Americana, and the contemporary singer-songwriter genre. As skilled delivering a Piedmont blues classic as he is performing his own acclaimed original songs, Lutes' masterful fingerstyle guitar work and soulful voice bring an unmistakable intensity to his live performances.

A double Maple Blues Award nominee as Acoustic Act and Songwriter of the Year in 2017, on his seventh album, “Walk in the Dark”, he does what he has done for years: kicks up a little dust, wades into some deep waters and tackles the realities of the world with depth, humour and a unique musical style.

Myles Goodwyn
Neat Coffee Shop, 1715 Calabogie Road, Burnstown ON
Friday, October 25 @ 8 pm; $60

Singer, guitarist, writer, producer and leader of the band April Wine, Myles Goodwyn’s passion and drive shaped and directed the group from its earliest beginnings. He is the only remaining original member of the group since the inception of April Wine in 1969. Goodwyn grew up poor and is the classic “small-town kid makes good” success story. As a young teen, Goodwyn honed his skills, playing in bands such as East Gate Sanctuary and Woody’s Termites. From the very beginning, Goodwyn plotted the course of the band. His unique but classic rock voice gives April Wine a distinct and immediately recognizable sound. Ranging from hard rock classics to soulful ballads, his vocal range and style can really grab a hold of you. His songwriting skills are prolific.

He has penned virtually every April Wine song. He has a knack with words and seems to have an ability to write a catchy tune at will. Through the ups and downs and changing faces of the band, the one thing that has remained constant is Myles Goodwyn. Even today and with their latest release and shift in direction, his voice is as strong and apparent as ever.

Now in its fourth decade, April Wine continues to charge ahead as one of Canada’s very best rock bands. And as far as rock history goes, Myles Goodwyn is already a living legend (especially in the annals of Canadian rock history), being known as one of the all-time greats.

On top of all the old classics that we all know and love, Myles will showcase some of his tunes from his new album as well. Tickets on sale now, limited dinner reservations available before the show!

Northern Hearts are in Ottawa for one night only, joined by the incomparable Angelina Hunter Trio at Bar Robo Chinatown. See you there. It's gonna be one to remember.

Northern Hearts is a powerful blues pop duo whose songs are at once playful and soulful. They recently performed at the Cultivate Festival and Cobourg Waterfront Festival, showcased at Folk Alliance International in Montreal, and reached the Top 100 of CBC Music's Searchlight Competition. Their debut EP, "of all these flames," is available everywhere you buy and stream music online.

The Angelina Hunter Trio, also affectionately known as AHT, is comprised of three friends who first met about twenty years ago as University of Ottawa students and longtime soldiers of the Ottawa music scene. The group is a vast amalgamation of styles and influences that are stirred in the pot and blown back out. They were chosen to represent Ottawa in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2018; getting to play the blues along Beale Street was a dream come true. Since then, they’ve had a great run of various festival dates, including the Ottawa RBC Bluesfest, the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival, The Calabogie Ribs and Blues Festival and others. Our debut album, “Roll With It”, has received rave reviews and is available across all digital music retailers.

Trevor Finlay – Album Release
Overflow Brewing Company, 2477 Kaladar Avenue
Friday, November 8; 9 pm – midnight

Nashville’s Trevor Finlay is coming home to Ottawa with his long-awaited new album entitled “Get Into It” and it’s time to celebrate! He got his start in the Ottawa area regularly playing clubs and festivals, releasing 4 albums, and becoming a regular on morning radio and tv shows. His success led to a number of tours, coast-to-coast across Canada and expanding to parts of Europe and Australia. Nashville has been Trevor's home for over a decade and he's built up a large fan following and tour circuit in the US.

“Get Into It” is Trevor’s newest, a 13 song self-produced album with all songs co-written by him. It marks a return to his blues-rock roots and it makes no excuses. Trevor is proud of the fact that “In a time where technology is king and people spend weeks, if not months to create ‘perfect’ music “Get Into It” was done in the old fashioned way - recorded in 4.5 days by seasoned musicians that can play their instruments.” There are no computer tricks, no after-the-fact edits and no pitch corrections. As Trevor likes to say, “Imperfections are where the soul lies.”.

The work is done, the fun begins. It’s time to release “Get Into It” into the world - and what better place to do it than Ottawa - where it all began?

Erin Costelo
NAC Azrieli Studio, 1 Elgin Street
Saturday, November 9 @ 8 pm; tickets $35

Pulsing with a confident and cathartic energy, Erin Costelo’s music harkens back to the golden age of songwriting. Her incredible voice and soulful stage presence have drawn comparisons to icons like Nina Simone and Carole King.

In 2018, Costelo released her fifth full-length album, “SWEET MARIE”: a 10-song collection recorded in 10 days in a timber-frame home on the ocean in Little Harbour, Nova Scotia. The album was brought to life in January amidst Canadian winter storms and pounding surf of the east coast. Self-produced, “SWEET MARIE” finds the native Nova Scotian looking at a world and a music industry that pushed her to the edge of ending her career. The triumph of “SWEET MARIE” sees her pushing back with tenacity and aplomb.

Holding a flame to the legendary songwriters that influenced her career, Costelo is unquestionably a singular artist: a maverick, unfettered by trend or fashion.

HOROJO Trio is a soul rockin’ rhythm & blues act that features drummer Jamie Holmes, singer/keyboardist Jeff Rogers, and guitarist/singer JW-Jones. Jeff is known as one of the hardest working artists in the nation’s capital clocking over 250 shows per year. The Ottawa Citizen says “his voice practically bowls you over with intensity, as sweet, rich and gooey as molasses in a heatwave”, while Nick Krewen (Globe & Mail, Grammy.com, Billboard) calls JUNO nominee JW-Jones “a frequent resident of Billboard’s Top 10 Blues charts and roots radio favourite”. Jamie is one of the most versatile drummers in the country and has toured throughout North America and Europe and recorded in Nashville with Grammy winning producer Tom Hambridge. The trio came together organically from a chance jam session after a corporate event that was so inspired that it left the audience and the musicians wanting more. Even before their first gig, they had already been called an Ottawa “super group”, and while they admit the band name (derived from the first two letters of each of the members’ last names) is unusual, the future certainly looks bright for the exceptional HOROJO Trio.

Colin Linden
Neat Coffee Shop, Burnstown ON
Thursday, November 21 @ 8 pm; $35

Born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in White Plains, New York, Colin Linden returned to Canada in 1970. He was already a guitar prodigy at 11 years old, and when most kids that age are playing sports, Colin was meeting and being mentored by one of his musical heroes, the great bluesman Howlin’ Wolf, which helped set the youngster on a course to pursue the sounds of his dreams. That encounter helped fuel a career that has featured his work on literally hundreds of albums. At last count, the total of recordings on which he has played approaches 400, while over 100 albums bear the “Produced by Colin Linden” credit.

Colin Linden is a genuine renaissance man of roots music. He’s a singer and songwriter of great skill, an in-demand and prolific record producer, a sideman to the stars as guitarist for the likes of Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, and, for the past decade-plus, a member of the highly successful trio, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. His well-stocked trophy case includes eight JUNO Awards, multiple Maple Blues Awards, and a Toronto Arts Award. He has a well-deserved reputation as a slide guitar virtuoso of true originality and his riveting slide work can be heard both on albums from numerous artists as well as on his own sizeable solo catalogue.

Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar
Neat Coffee Shop, 1715 Calabogie Road, Burnstown ON
Friday, November 22 @ 8 pm; $42.50

Samantha Martin is the lead singer, songwriter and focal point of the group. A dynamic front woman, she possesses a stunning voice that is capable of summoning up tidal waves of spine-tingling emotion in one instance while delicately bringing out the nuances of a gut-wrenching lyric in the next. A torrid force of nature, night after night she takes audiences to emotional peaks while leaving them stunned with her sheer pin-you-against-the-wall power.
While Martin is a powerhouse unto herself, the vocal alchemy of Delta Sugar is not the work of a single talent. In combination with what she likes to term her “co-vocalists,” Sherie Marshall and Mwansa Mwansa, the vocal blend Delta Sugar produces is pure, unadulterated gospel-tinged, neuron-tingling magic where the sum is even richer than the already soul-melting parts.

The Festival of Small Halls and NAC Presents are happy to bring back the wildly popular Christmas with Matt Andersen. Join us for holiday favourites and even some surprises!

Recorded live off the floor in Nashville, Tennessee, celebrated songwriter Matt Andersen’s tenth album, “Halfway Home by Morning”, collects all the essential elements for a down-home ramble. Over its lucky 13 tracks, he explores every facet of his sound—sweat-soaked soul, incendiary rhythm and blues, heartbroken folk, and gritty Americana—in the Southern Ground studio, the same spot that legends like Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded. The album is as honest and compromise free as anything he’s ever done.
The native New Brunswicker has proven time and time again, on stages everywhere from clubs to theatres, that he’s the genuine article. Andersen is a powerhouse performer with a giant, soul-filled voice and commanding stage presence, and has built a formidable following the old-fashioned way: touring worldwide and letting his stunned audiences and new devotees spread the good word of his righteous tunes all over.

Ghost Town Blues Band
Little Texas Roadhouse Bar & Grill, 515 Days Road, Kingston ON
Thursday, October 24; 7 pm – 10:30 pm

Beale Street comes to Kingston! GTBB is one of the best live blues shows in the world today! We brought GTBB to Belleville a few years ago and everyone was blown away! It's now time to bring this awesome band to Kingston.

Not your grandpa’s blues band, their live show has been captivating audiences in the U.S., Canada and Europe with their "second-line horn entrance," cigar box guitars and electric push brooms to Allman Brothers style jams and even a hip-hop trombone player. The band's stage show and energy is unparalleled and has been called the best new live blues show in the world.

Horns, harmonies and homegrown instruments combined with an energetic and roots rich festival set makes Ghost Town Blues Band one of the “must see live bands on the festival scene today.” Both Andrew McNeill behind the drums and Matt Karner on the bass guitar are a punishing rhythm section behind multi-instrumentalist/frontman Matt Isbell with raunchy cigar box guitar licks and raspy "Dr. John-like, whiskey and gravel-soaked vocals." With the addition of Trombonist Suavo Jones, Cedric Taylor on B3 and Taylor Orr on lead guitar, the grooves go from fresh to funky as the band gains more notoriety in the blues festival and jam circuit. Ghost Town Blues Band has performed all across US and Canada at over 100+ festivals and will perform more than a half-dozen international tours in Canada and Europe in 2019.

Discounted earlybird tickets available for a limited time. Tickets are $30 (HST included) for earlybird and $35 (HST included) for advanced up until the night of the show. Tickets at the door will be $40 (HST included) if any are available (likely standing room only).
