After a 4-year delay, this virtuoso of the piano, with a deep warm Soul voice, an artist who left a strong impression on us on his first visit is coming back in a slightly different set-up. The brass section has been put aside for a while to allow for two new members, one on guitar and another on a B3 organ to help improve the groove of an already funky main section, so as to sound like New Orleans style Soul and Funk. All the original compositions, a whole bunch of new covers and a new BIG sound; Meet the new Jeff Rogers Band.
A native of Bathurst New Brunswick, in 1980, Jeff Rogers soon moved to Ottawa where he now lives. Attracted to the piano around age 4 and encouraged by his parents, he became the keyboard player of a first group at 10. At the Nepean School of Music, he began moving toward jazz on the alto saxophone, leaving the piano aside. This is when he joined the Nepean All-City Jazz Band, at 17. This shift led to success as Jeff then earned the position of first alto sax in an 18 piece band, chosen among over 6000 Canadian musicians, at the MusicFest National All-Star Band in Vancouver, in 1999. After his studies, Jeff decided to learn two new instruments: the voice by singing and the guitar by playing it (sure!); he rehearsed in the region’s open-mic parties. This allowed him to develop the incredible voice that we can now hear as well as improve his stage presence. During that period of time, he started experimenting with various music styles that were new to him, from Funk to Punk and Rock and Pop, for sure, but always keeping his fondness for the Salsa, the Jazz, the Swing and, for sure, the Blues.A member of the famous Southern Rock group The Cooper Brothers, and of Silver Creek, those many eclectic projects led to defining the now very popular group that performs in a hundred or so shows a year across the river and all over Canada, The Jeff Rogers Band.
After their eponymous first CD, launched in April 2007, in which the group offered a Blues Funk sound with a hint of Rock, with keyboard and sax front row but always supported by the warm deep sound of Jeff’s voice, we began hearing The Jeff Rogers Band in lots of festivals as well as opening for celebs like Taj Mahal, Colin Linden, Sonny Landreth and The Downchild Blues Band. In 2012, we hear a definitely Soul / R & B Jeff Rogers on his second album “Let It Show”. We also can perceive traces of Jeff’s major influences, B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Prince, Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, John Mayer and Ben Harper.
The eagerly expected return of a superb voice who, like so many of the Blues and of the Soul Greats, hides a major mastery of instruments behind a relaxed look: Jeff Rogers - vocals and keyboards, with James Burmeister - Bass, Ross Murray - Drums, Jeff Devalk & Anders Drerup - Electric Guitar and Don Cummings - Hammond Organ.

Alec Fraser on upright bass, percussion and back up vocals and Mike Daley on guitar and lead vocals combine old time blues a la Blind Lemon Jefferson with great original songs in the country blues style. They met in 2007 after a Jeff Healey concert (Alec played bass in Jeff's band for years and is also an award winning producer), started playing together and haven't stopped since. "Fraser plays the upright bass so well, he needs no percussionist. And Daley is a magician on guitar" - The Hamilton Spectator
