NAC Presents
Christmas with Matt
Andersen & friends
NAC Southam Hall
Friday, December 20 @
8 pm; tickets start at $35
The
Festival of Small Halls and NAC Presents are happy to bring back the wildly
popular Christmas with Matt Andersen. Join us for holiday
favourites and even some surprises! Special
guest appearances by Terra Lightfoot, William Prince and Joey Landreth.
Recorded live
off the floor in Nashville, Tennessee, celebrated songwriter Matt Andersen’s
tenth album, “Halfway Home by Morning”, collects all the essential elements for
a down-home ramble. Over its lucky 13 tracks, he explores every facet of his sound—sweat-soaked
soul, incendiary rhythm and blues, heartbroken folk, and gritty Americana—in
the Southern Ground studio, the same spot that legends like Neil Young, Emmylou
Harris, and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded. The album is as honest and compromise free
as anything he’s ever done.
The native
New Brunswicker has proven time and time again, on stages everywhere from clubs
to theatres, that he’s the genuine article. Andersen is a powerhouse performer
with a giant, soul-filled voice and commanding stage presence, and has built a
formidable following the old-fashioned way: touring worldwide and letting his
stunned audiences and new devotees spread the good word of his righteous tunes
all over.

Anthony
Gomes
Rainbow
Bistro, 76 Murray Street
Friday,
December 20 @ 9 pm
Anthony
Gomes, #1 Billboard Blues Artist, is a triple threat force as a guitarist, vocalist
and songwriter. This, along with his high-energy shows and dynamic stage
presence, make him one of the top draws on the Rock/Blues circuit today.
Gomes’ new record “Peace, Love & Loud Guitars”, named Best Blues Album of 2018 by Blues Rock Review and SoundGuardian Magazine, is the culmination of a life spent honoring Blues traditions while never losing sight of his own identity. The Toronto born guitar slinger stands his ground as a creative artist and is eager to push the Blues back into the mainstream.
Believing that music can inspire the human spirit, Anthony founded the Music Is the Medicine Foundation in 2010. This non-profit organization is dedicated to changing the lives of others through the healing power of music.
Anthony Gomes has nothing left to prove while leaving all his passion on the table. Nonetheless, he continues striving to not only find the legendary “lost chord,” but the ultimate combinations of words, notes and performance. Looking for an actual 21st Century guitar hero? Here he is.

this themed party of the holidays.
50
years ago, it was 1969, and so much went on in that pivotal year: Man landed on
the moon (or so they say!), Woodstock Music Festival, Boeing's 747 took its
first commercial flights, Easy Rider and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
were in the theaters, the Rolling Stones had the Altamont fiasco and Led
Zeppelin burst onto the scene with their first two albums. With so much good
music being released that year (CSN, Santana, Led Zep, Blind Faith, Johnny
Winters – all first albums!), the Beatles released “Abbey Road” and “Yellow Submarine”
and the Stones put out “Let it Bleed”, and the list goes on and on!

Westport is a beautiful historic town on the Rideau Waterway - a 90-minute drive from Ottawa, 45 minutes from Kingston.
This
year we celebrate our 15th Anniversary
season -
making BOTR one of the longest running and best Blues Series in the country.
We've put together another fabulous Line-Up of some of Canada's best
Blues artists - nominees and winners of Juno Awards, Maple Blues Awards,
American Blues Music Award, Western Canadian Music Award and more - bringing
back some of the all time favourites who have played the Series over
the years plus a few great new ones.
Visit www.BluesOnTheRideau.ca for more details including artists' Bios, LINKS to their websites and You Tubes.
Then check your calendars, make your choices and RESERVE NOW to be sure you don't miss out on the shows. This is particularly true if you want to STAY OVERNIGHT. All the rooms at The Cove; nearby B&Bs and the Westport Station Motel usually sell out in advance on BOTR nights.
You will note that there has been a SMALL INCREASE in the ticket price this year - from $65 pp to $70 pp (plus HST). This is the first price increase in 5 years and is necessary to cover the increased costs of just about everything - food, drink, staff, band and Sound Engineer fees, advertising, printing costs and more.
However, when you consider the quality of the meal, the venue, the ambiance and the incredible LIVE music on these nights and compare it to just about anything else this is still one of - if not THE - best entertainment value in eastern Ontario - make that the country!

Hailed
as “The new master of the slide guitar” by the Montreux Jazz Festival and “The

energy that has electrified audiences worldwide.
Following
a string of successful shows opening for legendary artists, Lynyrd Skynyrd,

Tony
D (Diteodoro), guitarist for Juno award winning band MonkeyJunk, has been

awards and a Blues Music Award, (formerly known as The Handy Awards).
At
the age of thirteen Tony began his musical journey on the guitar. Learning
mostly in the blues, rock jazz stylings. From Muddy Waters, to Jimi Hendrix to
Jimmy Page, to Albert King to Wes Montgomery and all the points in between.
At
19, lead guitarist Tony D performed for three nights in Buddy Guy’s band and in
1982, he opened for Stevie Ray Vaughan. He has also toured with some of this
country’s greatest musicians, including the late Dutch Mason. In the early
nineties having taken a trip to Europe and securing a record deal out of
Holland, Tony became one of the first Canadian blue musician to tour Europe.
The Blues and anything that falls under that umbrella being his first love, but Tony D has also explored various forms of music. Flamenco became another obsession and after studying the form for two years he joined a troupe which made him write pseudo flamenco and Spanish rhythm instrumentals which he still plays today in his solo shows.
Joining
Tony will be Mary Gellner on drums and Joe Hawkins on Bass
From
the delta to the desert it all comes from places of devotion, musical devotion.
