on Bob Dylan, DB Cohen started his musical journey where he
spent most of his life, on the road. Born Daniel Ben Cohen in Sidcup, England,
he's been travelling the around the world with his acoustic guitar since he was
19, living in the South Pacific, Japan, Australia and Europe.
Drawing
on 10 years of traveling the world, outrageous adventures in the South Pacific
and working as a special needs teacher, he recorded his debut
album “Scratchcards & Wine” with the guidance of Dan’s musical
mentor and producer, legendary Latin percussionist, Snowboy. An astute
observational songwriter he writes about the journeys, characters and places he
finds himself in.

Records (Memphis Tn) was a breeding ground for the Soul music explosion of the

and Steve Cropper (amongst others) as songwriters and producers, they created a
string of hits that continue to influence R&B music today. The hits kept
coming, and ‘Soulsville’ will feature them all, like: ‘Hold On I’m Coming’, ‘Soul
Man’, ‘Sitting on the Dock of the Bay’, ‘Knock on Wood’, ‘In The Midnight Hour’,
and instrumentals like ‘Green Onions’ and ‘Time is Tight’ by Booker T. and ‘Soul

Shawn Holt is the son
of blues legend Magic Slim. The high energy hard-driving sound of The Teardrops
is still alive and well with Holt, a chip off the old block, fronting his dad’s
band. Shawn’s booming vocals is more than a little reminiscent of his dad’s,
and his guitar playing while similar to Slim’s, exhibits a broader mix of
classic and contemporary influences. Shawn shows himself more than capable of
leading The Teardrops into a new era. The blues torch has been passed to another
generation of the blues.
Shawn started playing
the blues at the age of 17, when he went on the road with this father and
Slim’s brother, uncle Nick Holt, and The Teardrops. Shortly after that tour
with his father, Shawn realized his genetic destiny (all the Holt’s are
talented musicians) and formed his own band. He has been watching, learning,
and playing blues ever since.

The old Willie Dixon adage, “blues is truth,” perfectly describes the
searing, contemporary blues-rock of world-renowned guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya. Taught by the “Master of the Telecaster,” Albert Collins, but with a hard-edged sound and style all his own,
Montoya mixes his forceful, melodic guitar playing and passionate vocals with
memorable songs, delivering the blues’ hardest truths.
He earned his status
as a master guitarist and soul-powered vocalist through years of paying his
dues as a sideman with Collins (first as a drummer) and then with John Mayall’s
Bluesbreakers, before launching
his solo career in 1993. Five years of constant touring with Collins and ten
years with Mayall turned him into a monster player and dynamic performer.
Montoya has released eight solo albums—including three for Alligator between
2000 and 2007—and has played at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all
over the world.

popular demand, one of Ontario’s most talked about acts returns to Music by the
Bay Live. This all-star Canadian cast of award-winning blues and roots
musicians, under the direction of Juno award winning producer and musical
director, Lance Anderson, will be playing The Uxbridge Music
Hall on November 30, celebrating the 43rd Anniversary of THE BAND’s last
concert in 1976 and The BAND’s amazing contribution to our shared Canadian
musical heritage.
This
is an all-star line-up, featuring Jerome Levon Avis (Levon Helm’s godson), on
drums and vocals with special guests and a nine-piece band led by Maple Blues
2014 ‘Keyboardist of the Year’ Lance Anderson. The performance
will recreate the atmosphere of The Band’s final concert, which was captured in
Martin Scorcese’s award-winning concert film, The Last Waltz.
On
the American Thanksgiving of 1976 at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom, The BAND performed
what they called their “Last Waltz,” and invited many of their friends to join
in the celebration. These friends included Bob
Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Van Morrison, and Canadians Neil
Young and Joni Mitchell and others who performed with The Band on this
special night.
In
this homage to The Last Waltz, Anderson’s special guests will perform the songs
played and sung by these guest artists at the memorable 1976 concert.
Backed by a 9-piece band that includes Jerome Levon
Avis, Terry Blersh on guitar, Dennis Pinhorn (The Hawks) on bass, Rob Gusevs
(Blood, Sweat and Tears) on organ and Anderson (Joint Chiefs of Soul) on piano and
vocals, this is a group of seasoned veterans who love the music. Anderson’s
band also features a stellar four-piece horn section including David Dunlop (Boss Brass) on trumpet, Gord Meyers (Blood, Sweat and
Tears) on trombone and tuba, Chris Murphy (The Maple Blues Band) on tenor sax
and Simon Wallis (Lighthouse) on baritone sax. An all-star band!
The
Band is a Canadian national treasure, with four members of the legendary roots
music group originally from southern Ontario. In the 1960s, they were initially
brought together as “The Hawks” by Ronnie Hawkins and later gained
international recognition as Bob Dylan’s band on his ground-breaking electric
tours. This 120 minute performance of The Last Waltz includes a wide selection
of fan favourites, such as The Band’s ‘The Weight’, ’The Night They Drove Ol’
Dixie Down’, ‘Up On Cripple Creek’, ‘Life is a Carnival’, ‘The Shape I’m In’,
‘Rag Mama Rag’, ‘It Makes No Difference’, ‘Ophelia’ and many more.

Sean Chambers began his career in the Blues back in 1998 when he toured with
the legendary Hubert Sumlin as his guitarist and band leader until 2003. During
Sean’s tenure with Mr. Sumlin, Britain's own Guitarist magazine named Chambers
as “One of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century.”
In
2009, Chambers went into the studio to record his critically-acclaimed album, “Ten
Til Midnight”. When “Ten Til Midnight” was released in October, 2009, it
garnered rave reviews and also appeared on the Living Blues chart for the first
three months after its release. It received steady airplay in 45 states around
the U.S, as well as many markets overseas. The title cut was featured on “The
House of Blues Radio Hour” as a “Blues Breaker;” and the album also generated
significant airplay on Sirius/XM Radio’s blues channel as a “Pick to Click.”

the age of sixteen, Philip started showing up and playing at blues jam nights
at Grossmans Tavern in downtown Toronto. It wasn’t long before he was winning
over admirers, including the legendary guitarist Jeff Healey, who invited
Philip to join his band. Over the next few years, Philip had his first
international tour experience with Healey, playing prestigious festivals and
stages worldwide.
After
a move to Los Angeles, Philip was invited to join Melissa Etheridge’s band following
an introduction by producer John Shanks. For the next several years, Philip
performed on Melissa Etheridge’s albums and was featured during her live concerts
where his cosmic performances left audiences stunned.
Philip’s
musical life hit a high point in 2013 with his unforgettable performance at
Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival at New York’s Madison Square Garden. “It was
a special experience that reinforced my love of music and commitment to honour
the musical integrity of my heroes,” Sayce says. “I’m going out there in the
studio and onstage to do my best and perform from my heart every time.”

Harpdog Brown is a gifted vocalist and an imaginative harmonica player. Piano man Dave Webb has been working with Harpdog over the years and they share an intuition that only comes with many hours and miles shared on and off stage. Billy Joe Abbott learned his craft first-hand from some of the greatest Clarinetists in New Orleans. Riley Bartlett is the newest and youngest member on Trumpet from Winnipeg and he's awesome! Drummer extraordinaire Rick Jacobson will be laying down the groove.
Harpdog has won three consecutive Maple Blues Awards for Harmonica Player of the Year (2014/2015/2016), the Fraser Valley Music Award, has three consecutive Western Canadian Music Awards Nominations, a Juno Nomination and is the only Canadian to win the coveted Muddy Award. In 2016, he was nominated for 3 Maple Blues Awards (Harmonica Player, Male Vocalist and Album of the Year) for his latest release “Travelin’ With The Blues”.
“Travelin' With The Blues”, released in 2016, is still sitting in the top roots and blues charts and follows his Top 20 charting 2014 release “What It Is” (Roots Music Report International Blues Albums).

guitarist, writer, producer and leader of the band April Wine, Myles Goodwyn’s
passion and drive shaped and directed the group from its earliest beginnings.
He is the only remaining original member of the group since the inception of
April Wine in 1969. Goodwyn grew up poor and is the classic “small-town kid
makes good” success story. As a young teen, Goodwyn honed his skills, playing
in bands such as East Gate Sanctuary and Woody’s Termites. From the very
beginning, Goodwyn plotted the course of the band. His unique but classic rock
voice gives April Wine a distinct and immediately recognizable sound. Ranging
from hard rock classics to soulful ballads, his vocal range and style can
really grab a hold of you. His songwriting skills are prolific.
He has penned virtually every April Wine song. He has a knack with words and seems to have an ability to write a catchy tune at will. Born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in White
Plains, New York, Colin Linden returned to Canada in 1970. He was already a
guitar prodigy at 11 years old, and when most kids that age are playing sports,
Colin was meeting and being mentored by one of his musical heroes, the great
bluesman Howlin’ Wolf, which helped set the youngster on a course to
pursue the sounds of his dreams. That encounter helped fuel a career that has
featured his work on literally hundreds of albums. At last count, the total of
recordings on which he has played approaches 400, while over 100 albums bear
the “Produced by Colin Linden” credit.
Colin Linden is a genuine renaissance man of
roots music. He’s a singer and songwriter of great skill, an in-demand and
prolific record producer,
a sideman to the stars as guitarist for the likes of
Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant and Alison
Krauss, and, for the past decade-plus, a member of the highly successful
trio, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings. His well-stocked
trophy case includes eight JUNO Awards, multiple Maple
Blues Awards, and a Toronto Arts Award. He has a
well-deserved reputation as a slide guitar virtuoso of true originality and his

Downchild
came to international prominence as the inspiration for Aykroyd and the late

Brothers’ 1978 multi-platinum album Briefcase Full of Blues.
