"“Left With The Blues” veers from soulful ballads to jumpy blues numbers that ignite sparks like metal on flint. This is a robust blues album that leaves an impression.” Invisible Ink

"With a title like “Left With The Blues” that’s what I was expecting to pull from this batch of songs, but there is so much going on here I was delighted as each track grabbed me and took on some really cool, unexpected side trips. This is a perfect album". - Written by John The Rock Doctor Kereiff

"Packed with enough soul and energy to fill a couple of albums, Andre and his big band will satisfy all your musical cravings". - Hamilton Blues
Gina Sicilia
The Rainbow, 76 Murray Street
Monday, August 15 @ 8:30 pm

Considered a true rising star in the blues world ever since her debut album, “Allow Me to Confess”, brought her world-wide acclaim in 2007, Gina manages to raise the bar even further with “The Alabama Sessions”, which she recorded and produced in legendary Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and where she throws down a music gauntlet of soul, power, grit and energy for others to follow. Her songs and performances gracefully cross genres on the new album, too, with echoes of soul, rock and even Americana woven throughout the tapestry of sound she’s created on the new disc, bringing Gina’s music to an even wider audience.

To say he plays the harmonica is like saying "Jimi Hendrix plays guitar". He blows the blues harp through a prism -- suddenly it seems he's holding every colour in the musical rainbow right there in his hands.

Simultaneously sophisticated and raw, his playing blurs the boundaries between blues and jazz hence the name for his band “The Blues Mongrels”. The emphasis is on blues, but they are not afraid to merrily traipse off in other directions delivering a seamless fusion of New Orleans second line grooves, swing, Latin, hip-hop or ska melodies, to swampy roots rock.

The Blues Mongrels are: introducing young guitar wiz Graham Young, bassist Henry Heillig (founded the nine piece Latin band Manteca) and drummer Danny Lockwood. Get ready to trash all you thought you knew about the harmonica. The Blues Mongrels deliver a no-holds-barred display of fun and melodic virtuosity.

"I can remember a time when you could see Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, he'd play in his own club, Hound Dog Taylor would always be around Maxwell Street. J.B. Hutto, too. Being able to see them perform live was breathtaking. I'm basically self-taught and I'd pick things up by just watching them."

Paul Reddick
Son of Dave
Black Sheep Inn, Wakefield QC
Friday, September 16 @ 8:30 pm

Melding poetry, mystery, darkness and light, along with an extensive knowledge of the history and traditions of blues music is what makes Paul Reddick on of the most popular figures on the blues and roots music scene today. For over 25 years he’s been writing and performing his eclectic brand of blues, bringing the art form to new frontiers with his rapacious, deep vocals, masterful harmonica playing and song writing. As the unofficial poet laureate of Canadian blues, words are his weapon of choice and when he sings, it is near impossible not to listen and get lost within the songs, right alongside him and illustrating what the influential British magazine Mojo described as his “wayward brilliance.”

Son of Dave isn't you're average blues musician. He's an international cult Bluesman on a mission to save your musical soul from atrophy. It would be an easy game, sticking to cliché’s and playing a circuit of guitar-solo lovin', middle-aged divorcees. No disrespect to the working man's blues circuit, but this one-man harmonica & beat-box genius beats his own path, turning rhythm and blues upside down and gathering a huge international army of devoted fans from all walks of life. Son of Dave – born Benjamin Darvill – is half a century old now, and started out in the blues + biker bars of Canadian mid-western city Winnipeg, but has been based in the UK for 20 years. With a CV as long as your arm and a briefcase full of naughty tricks, he is on the road again in 2016 and still hasn't reached top speed. He's a long distance Bluesman, not a quick burner. He'll still be going strong through his next fifty years no doubt. It's YOU that has to catch him before sinking into your old age.
Cecile Doo-Kingué
& Wicked Grin
Black Sheep Inn, Wakefield QC
Saturday, September 17 @ 8:30 pm

An exceptional stage presence, guitarist / singer-songwriter Cécile Doo-Kingué blends blues, afro-roots and soul to create a unique sound. Born and raised in New York City, first generation from Cameroon, she has lived in the USA, France, and is now an adopted Montrealer. Cécile Doo-Kingué isn’t just another token “chick” guitarist; her talents are measured not by gender lines, but by the fact that she is quickly earning a stellar reputation and a place alongside Canada’s current roster of great guitarists. Powerful and raw, Cécile Doo-Kingué’s guitar prowess, lyrics, and sound make for enthralling and intimate communion.

Building on the success of their sophomore album “Shame On Me” released in 2013, and following their 2014 Maple Blues Award for Best New Group, Murray Kinsley & Wicked Grin released “Stormy Water” in November 2015. Featuring 11 road-tested tracks, 10 of which were written by Kinsley, this tight group of experienced musicians have stepped up their game. “Stormy Water” features spirited upbeat, danceable numbers while expanding on the heavier and grittier sound the band has been developing over the past few years. “Stormy Water” was named Best Canadian Blues Rock Album of 2015 by the Blues Underground Network and bassist Leigh-Anne Stanton was named The Maple Blues Awards “Bassist of the Year” for 2015.

The Nylons Farewell Show

Friday, September 30 @ 8 pm

Having harmonized through our hearts for four decades, The Nylons had popularized the a cappella genre well before the likes of Glee. Touring since 1978, this multi-Juno winning vocal group is singing goodbye with their Farewell Show. This is one last chance to watch the legendary group perform jazz, pop and soul hits.

Pioneers of the crossover and the mashup, these men give catchy favourites new life with creative arrangements. The act showcases the incredible voices of its tenors, bass and baritones for a sound that will have you wondering where they hid all those instruments. Hear joyful renditions of Beatles and Carole King classics, snap along to their original tunes, and experience the doo-wop classic “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” performed live on stage by a national treasure.
