Saturday September 12 – Irene’s Dirty Thirty Extravaganza continues with Pleasure Craft
To launch our 22nd edition, Virée Blues Boréale asked The Paul Deslauriers Band, Jack DeKeyzer and The Justin Saladino Band to create a unique show as an homage not only to The King but to the three Kings of the Blues – Albert King, Freddie King and, for sure, The Great B.B. King.
Our second guest, Jack DeKeyzer has been declared “The Finest Blues Guitarist in Canada" by none other than Jeff Healey and, according to the great Bob Dylan: "If Jack DeKeyzer was from Chicago, New York or LA, he'd be famous!" With a production of 9 albums and with some 20 most prestigious awards among which 2 Junos and 7 Maple Blues Awards, the Gentleman of the Blues with his indisputable talent who will be visiting Virée Blues Boréale for a fifth time shall grace this tribute to the three Kings with his Jazz, Funk, R&B and Swing coloured Blues Sound.
Last but definitely not least! At first sight, for those who did not yet discover this new star on the Blues scene, it may seem strange to line up this curly-head newcomer with our prestigious Bluesmen frontline! But you’ll see ... and hear! This young guy, this teen lost in the music for misery of men, a former student with Paul Deslauriers, who came forward on the Blues scene when only 16, in 2011, will easily convince you that he can be part of this gang to honour those Blues greats, just as he did at Tremblant with Jack De Keyzer, David Gogo, Steve Strongman and Paul Deslauriers in a tribute to Robert Johnson. Justin Saladino and his band, The Justin Saladino Band with Hans Blichert on bass and A.J. Aboud on drums, after a first EP "Sometimes Called the Blues" has brought out the high energy of the band with their mix of Blues, Funk and Rock in a rough and true fashion.
Blues On The Rideau – the Dinner and Show Fundraiser Series that has been running at The Cove Country Inn in Westport, Ontario for the past 10 years and is now recognized as one of the premier Blues Series in Canada – is pleased to announce its 2015/16 Line-Up. The shows start in September and run once a month through to May (December excluded). It’s another all star cast of some of Canada’s best Blues bands with a mix of popular returnees and a couple of new bands that have never played BOTR before. As in previous years every show is a fundraiser for a different local charity. To date the Series has raised over $55,000. The goal for this season is another $5K.
Note that there has been a small increase in price this year – $5 - the first in 5 years – to help cover cost increases over that time. And there is a new Reservation Policy in place this year – a credit card number is required with the reservation (although the card is not charged until the night of the show). Cancellations or changes in the reservation can be made up to a week prior to the event without penalty. After that time those than don’t show – or come with fewer than reserved for – will be charged for those seats – although a credit will be applied for a future show that season (space available) if there is a legitimate reason. The new policy has been implemented due to the number of "no-shows" over the past several years which, in many cases, has prevented others who would like to see that show from attending.
