Blues-folk festival
With Ian Kelly, the Jivewires, JW-Jones Trio, Kevin Parent
Chelsea Pub, 238, chemin Old Chelsea, Chelsea QC
July 8-12; seats are limited, reserve in advance at 819 827-5300 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 819 827-5300 end_of_the_skype_highlighting
The Chelsea pub is preparing for an intimate folk-blues festival in Chelsea’s bucolic decor from July 8 to 12. All performances will be held on the Chelsea Pub’s lovely terrace, rain or shine. This is a first, but the organizers intend to have these events repeated every year.
The Blues-Folk Festival will start with Montreal artist Ian Kelly on July 8, followed by The Jivewires on July 9th and JW-Jones Trio on July 10. The surprise on July 11 and 12 will be an appearance by the famous Quebec singer-songwriter Kevin Parent for an intimate show. These last two shows are sold out but there are still seats for the three first shows.
The very special character of this multi-leveled terrace, lined with mature trees, is evident as soon as one gets there. Some people can even listen to the show around the campfire or besides a lovely fountain. All the musicians who performed at the Chelsea Jazz Festival as well as the clients were under the charm of the place and its magic atmosphere. A stage has been installed along the fence near the street and a giant umbrella protects the musicians in case of rain. Most of the clients are well protected with a large canopy and umbrellas.
It has been two years that live music was back at the Chelsea Pub in Old Chelsea. Every Thursday, the Pub is hosting shows from local artists and bands from different styles (Latin, Brazilian, Cuban music, jazz, blues, folk, Flamenco) creating an ambiance not to be missed!

Hugh Pool
Rainbow, 76 Murray Street
Thursday, July 29 @ 9:45 pm
Hugh Pool is a free spirit whose life is dictated by his passion for real music. He has never signed a record contract and has never entered into any management deals, but he’s survived 20 years in the New York music scene, playing what he calls “jacked-up Delta blues and Rust Belt roots rock.” Hugh Pool keeps it real. His music reaches deep within, pushing the envelope and shortening the distance between Blind Lemon Jefferson and Z Z Top to a whippoorwill’s whisker, and he makes it his own. He cuts through today’s noise that passes for rock with a dexterity, dimension and depth that puts him in the same game as little appreciated legends like Roy Buchanan or Joe Ely. He’s not so much a blues rocker as he is a blues man who rocks. He brings the largeness of rock to the emotions of blues, but he’s not larger than life. He’s life lived large.

Arlo Guthrie is a natural-born storyteller, whose tales and anecdotes bring his concerts to life.
